jpnn.com – France’s high-speed rail network was sabotaged just hours before the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The sabotage caused travel chaos, and is expected to last through the weekend.
SNCF, the French railway operator, said the vandals damaged signal boxes and cables along the line connecting Paris with cities such as Lille in the north, Bordeaux in the west and Strasbourg in the east.
“This was a large-scale attack to paralyze the high-speed rail network,” SNCF said.
So far, no party has claimed responsibility for the series of sabotages on France’s high-speed rail network.
However, two sources from the French security services suspect that the saboteurs were left-wing militants or environmental activists.
However, they have not been able to find any supporting evidence.
SNCF itself asked passengers to postpone their trips and stay away from train stations.
