During this visit, which took place in the presence of the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Ms. Dati received a presentation on the work and fields of action of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), as well as on the participation of the Kingdom in this prestigious festival.

On the same occasion, the French minister met with Moroccan producers and directors present at the Cannes Film Festival, in addition to the member of the Academy of Oscars and Moroccan producer Khadija Alami, and the interim director of the CCM as well as the director of the Moroccan Cinematheque and the director of the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions (ISMAC).

“I am here in Cannes to accompany the Moroccan Pavilion which allows us all to meet and hold our meetings. It is a very important element in the life of the Cannes Festival,” Ms. Alami told MAP.

According to her, the idea of installing a Moroccan pavilion in one of the largest film festivals in the world is an “extraordinary” initiative, which offers all Moroccan professionals, producers, directors or others a space where they can hold their meetings and meet other professionals.

Previously, Mr. Bensaid had held talks with Ms. Dati during which the emphasis was placed on the dynamics of Moroccan-French relations and on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, cinema and heritage.

At the end of these talks, a bilateral agreement was signed on co-production and cinematographic exchange, aiming, among other things, to clarify and simplify co-production procedures between Moroccan and French filmmakers, in addition to setting up a joint commission between the Moroccan Cinematographic Center and its French counterpart to implement this agreement.
