French team: training for the Blues with Benzema apart and Stéphan at the helm

by time news

Three days before the reception of Denmark at the opening of the League of Nations, the players of the France team, finally complete, trained this Tuesday at the end of the day in Clairefontaine (Yvelines). The Blues were treated to a classic session, only Karim Benzema who arrived at the national center the evening before, was booked into a differentiated session three days after his victory in the Champions League final with Real Madrid.

This training had a special character since it was led by Guy Stéphan, Didier Deschamps’ assistant. Bereaved by the death of his father, the coach of the Blues had to leave the gathering of the France team a little earlier in the day to join his family in the Basque Country. The date of his return to the selection has not been communicated by the French Football Federation, which offered its condolences to the double world champion 1998 and 2018 through the voice of its president Noël Le Graët. The players meanwhile observed a minute’s silence before training, in memory of their coach’s father.
