For the second year, Ruse hosted the European Archery Club Cup for men and women in the recurve discipline. The sports event, which took place over the weekend at the City Stadium, is organized by the Bulgarian Archery Federation with the assistance of the Municipality of Ruse and Sports Club “Jambo-2006”.

A total of 29 teams from 21 clubs took part in the competition – 18 men’s and 11 women’s. During the two days of the tournament, 120 archers from 7 countries took to the field – Ireland, Poland, Spain, France, Serbia, Slovenia and Bulgaria.
The competition offered many tense moments and duels, with 4 French teams reaching the men’s semi-finals, and 3 French and one Polish team in the women’s. After a contested final, the men’s title went to Club Compagnie d’Archers de Rennes, with Arc Club de Nimes and State Clemontois taking second and third place respectively. The places up to sixth were also occupied by French clubs, as the Bulgarian teams – “Dynamics” Silistra, “Trakieets” Sadovo, “Jambo 2006” Ruse and “Mladi streltsi” Varna, ranked from 10th to 13th place, respectively. Sofia’s “Phoenix Archery” and “Robin Hood” remained in 15th and 16th place. The oldest participant in the tournament was the 67-year-old Russian Ivan Yotov, who is part of the “Jambo-2006” team.
Among the women, the first three places were also occupied by competitors of French clubs. Archers Riomois took the gold, followed by Arc Club de Nimes and Esperance et Vaillantes de Brignais. The Bulgarian teams – “Phoenix Archery” and “Robin Hood” took 10th and 11th place.
Prizes were awarded to the winners at an official ceremony that closed the tournament. They were awarded by the chairman of the BSFL Atanas Temelkov and the director of OP “Sports properties” Lachezar Ivanov. Temelkov said after the end of the competition that Ruse is one of the few municipalities in the country that actively supports competitions of this kind. He presented Lachezar Ivanov with an honorary plaque with which the Bulgarian Archery Federation expresses its gratitude to the Municipality of Ruse for the cooperation and popularization of this attractive sport.

The fact that the entire French national team, a silver medalist from the Olympic Games, as well as competitors of the national teams of Spain and Slovenia, took part in the competition also speaks of the importance of the sporting event.
