The Presenter Patrice Laffont Has‌ Passed Away

The host of “Fort Boyard” and “Pyramide,” Patrice Laffont, died this Wednesday morning at his home⁢ in Oppède in Vaucluse at ‍the age of ‌84.

Known for his playful personality and humor, Laffont⁤ was ‌a beloved figure ⁣in French audiovisual landscape. He hosted “Des chiffres et des lettres” from 1972 to 1989, ​bringing together millions of⁢ viewers every ‌afternoon on Antenne 2. He also hosted the adventure game “Fort Boyard” from 1990 to ⁢1999 and another popular game, “Pyramide,” from 1991 to 2001.

Laffont was born in Marseille in 1939⁤ and would have celebrated his 85th⁣ birthday on August 21. He was the father of ⁣actress Axelle Laffont and the son of publisher Robert Laffont.

French President Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to the star presenter, saying, “Des chiffres et des lettres, Fort Boyard, Pyramide: Patrice Laffont brought ‌entire ‌families in front ⁤of the television. My ‍condolences to his loved ones and to the generations he has influenced so much.”
