On this occasion, Mariam KANOTE, president of the organizing committee, said that artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly evolved to become a driving force in many areas of our society: Agriculture, medicine, finance, mobility. Energy, security, etc. “The applications of AI are vast and offer exciting opportunities to improve our daily lives. Thanks to technical advances, we can automate tedious tasks, optimize complex processes and even discover new knowledge from large datasets,” said Mariam KANOTTE. The President of the Organizing Committee also indicated that it is essential to recognize that, despite its undeniable advantages, artificial intelligence also raises ethical concerns and crucial challenges. “We are at a crossroads where technological advancements must be balanced with ethical and responsibility considerations. This is precisely the purpose of this conference: to explore the ethical dimensions of AI and debate best practices to ensure that its deployment benefits humanity as a whole,” she added.
For Dr. Ratheil Houndji, professor-researcher at the UAC in Artificial Intelligence and President of the Ratheil Foundation, the mission of the Foundation is to promote an artificial intelligence that respects human values ​​and contributes to a sustainable future for Africa. The Ratheil Foundation opts for raising awareness on the ethical issues related to AI; the social, environmental and economic impacts of artificial intelligence; supporting innovative projects and collaborating with local and international partners to shape a future where AI is a positive force. FRIARE is a center of expertise on issues of impact assessment audit, ethics and liability of artificial intelligence systems. She wants to actively contribute to the construction of an optimal version of the Africa of tomorrow in a world dominated by technology.
It should be noted that the Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP) was represented for this purpose by Ben Yahmed SOULE. Among the participants were experts and researchers in artificial intelligence, business leaders, players in the Beninese Tech ecosystem, representatives of civil society organizations, students interested in artificial intelligence, etc. .
