He left the place at around 0:39 am, and the armed criminals appeared at 0:59 am. Four doctors were at the kiosk at the time of the crime, one of which survived. Everyone was in the city to participate in an international orthopedics conference. The main suspicion of the crime is that the doctors were attacked by mistake, after one of the victims was mistaken by traffickers for a militia member who lived on the beachfront. After the repercussions of the case, four men believed to be responsible for the crime turned up dead in the western region. The execution of the suspects was reportedly ordered by the drug court in a videoconference between inmates and leaders of the Vila Cruzeiro community, in the north of Rio.
