Around 60,000 fans celebrated the singer during her performance in Gelsenkirchen. However, one wish of many “Swifties” remained unfulfilled.
Tens of thousands of fans of US superstar Taylor Swift had been looking forward to this evening for a long time. On Wednesday, the singer gave the first of seven concerts in Germany as part of her “The Eras Tour”. Shortly before 8 p.m., she took the stage at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. For more than three hours, the 34-year-old whirled across the stage with her usual program. Swift has been on her big world tour since March 2023, which takes in all of the singer’s musical eras. However, one thing was eagerly awaited by many fans: whether her partner, NFL star and Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce, would show up in Gelsenkirchen.
The relationship between the two electrifies the “Swifties”. An absolute highlight: In London, the singer brought her boyfriend on stage for a joint performance. Her fans had hoped for this on Wednesday – but were disappointed. The sportsman was there, but watched the concert from the stands. In shorts, a green and black checked shirt and a cap on his head, he listened to his loved one.
By the end of the concert, pleading comments had piled up on social media. “Please let Travis come on stage,” “I really hope he’s standing right next to her,” and “Another London moment please,” were some of the comments posted by X. Some fans even speculated that there would be a marriage proposal in the arena. But that didn’t happen.
The disappointment was accordingly great. Especially because it could have been the football star’s last visit on tour. His team, the Kansas City Chiefs, started training camp this week before the NFL season, which is about to begin. In three days, Travis Kelce must also be back on the field.
