A new generation of home networking is on the horizon as Fritz! has announced a suite of devices leveraging the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology,showcased at IFA 2025. The centerpiece of the announcement is the FRITZ!Box 6690 Pro, a tri-band router designed for cable connections and promising unparalleled speed and performance for demanding users.
According to a company release, the FRITZ!Box 6690 Pro is positioned as an “absolute all-in-one package” for those seeking to maximize their digital home experience. Beyond its cutting-edge wireless capabilities, the device integrates complete telephone functions, Smart Home compatibility with Zigbee and Matter, and support for DECT school applications. It also includes the popular FRITZ! OS suite, offering features like VPN, child locking, and a media server.
FRITZ!Box 6690 Pro: Power and Connectivity
The FRITZ!Box 6690 Pro is built around a DocSIS-3.1 standard for cable internet connectivity, utilizing channel bundling with 2×2 OFDM (A) and 32×8 SC-QAM. Its tri-band WLAN mesh system operates on 6 GHz (2×2), 5 ghz (4×4), and 2.4 GHz (2×2) frequencies, delivering remarkable speeds: up to 5,760 Mbit/s on both the 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and up to 688 Mbit/s on the 2.4 GHz band.
The router boasts a robust array of ports, including one 2.5 Gbit/s LAN connection and three 1 Gbit/s LAN connections.It also features two USB 3.0 ports for connecting storage media and printers. Telephony options are extensive, supporting DECT, IP/SIP, and two analog telephone connections (FXS). The FRITZ! OS provides a wealth of additional features, including VPN, child locking, a media server, and WLAN guest access. .

Fritz! also previewed other FRITZ!Box models, including the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS, which was presented in February, and another model slated for release in June 2025.
beyond routers, the company unveiled the FRITZ! WLAN stick 6700, a Wi-Fi 7 adapter designed for Windows notebooks and PCs. This triband adapter, also operating on the 6, 5, and 2.4 GHz bands, offers speeds of up to 2,880 Mbit/s on the 5 and 6 GHz bands and 688 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz. Notably, the WLAN stick 6700 is designed to be compatible with any WLAN router.
Rounding out the announcements was the FRITZ! Fon M3, a new DECT phone designed to seamlessly integrate with FRITZ!Box systems. The phone features HD telephony, a 1.8″ monochrome display, an illuminated keyboard, and integrated media player functionality. It also offers access to online phone books, multiple answering machines, remote query via email, call lists, a wake-up call feature, and even a baby monitor function. The FRITZ! Fon M3 offers up to 16 hours of talk time and 14 days of standby time.
