The new Fritzbox can be used anywhere – for whom the device is suitable

AVM’s Fritzbox 6860 5G, introduced last year, is now available. The device is the company’s most flexible router.
The Fritzbox 6860 5G is now available. AVM showed the WLAN router at the Ifa last year. What’s special: The Fritzbox is splash-proof and dust-proof, allowing internet reception both outdoors and indoors. In addition to the weather conditions, users also don’t have to worry about the power supply.
Why? The Fritzbox 6860 5G is AVM’s first device with PoE (Power over Ethernet). This means that the WLAN router draws power from a LAN port using the power supply supplied. A socket is therefore not necessary.
The Fritzbox 6860 5G has an integrated cellular modem. According to AVM, download rates of up to 1.3 Gbit/s are possible. If 5G reception is poor, the device automatically switches to 4G (LTE). Alternatively, internet access is also possible via an existing WiFi hotspot, the manufacturer states.
Thanks to the included housing adapter, the Fritzbox can also be attached to the window. The scope of delivery includes corresponding adhesive pads. An assistant in the device’s user interface helps you set it up and find the best mobile reception.
Phone calls to the devices connected to the Fritzbox are also possible using the SIM card for the device, which is necessary for mobile reception. The integrated telephone system supports up to six cordless telephones, says AVM. The synchronization of contacts between the phones and HD telephony are possible.
The Fritzbox 6860 5G is now available in stores. The price: 489 euros.
Manufacturer AVM last presented the Fritzbox 4050 last September. Like the other models in the 4000 series, the device does not have its own modem. Unlike the Fritzbox 6860 5G, the device is interesting, among other things, for users who, for example, have received a modem without WLAN function from their Internet provider.
