From Caligula’s Horse to Snoop Dogg: A Reflection on American Decline and the Perils of Identity Politics

by time news

Emperor Caligula is remembered for appointing his horse as a senator in disdain for the assembly. The American government is allowing rapper Snoop Dogg to carry the Olympic torch into Paris at the opening ceremony. There is a certain parallel.

A former superpower is represented by a rapper known for decadence and drugs, a sign of America’s decline.

Snoop Dogg will carry it through Saint Denis, a district that is no longer French. It is part of the Republic’s lost territories. French kings are buried there. Vandals have already entered the cathedral.

The fact that Kamala Harris could even become vice president was due to an internal horse trade. Europeans do not understand what a sign of decline it is that she can be a candidate for the Democrats.

She is a representative of the identity politics that the Democratic Party has focused on. It is about what divides, not what unites. The opposite of what created America’s greatness.

The reason Europeans do not understand what threat this policy poses to America’s strength is that they themselves are subjected to the same brainwashing.

A core point of identity politics is the abolition of meritocracy in favor of markers like skin color, religion, gender, ethnicity. There is a lot of courting in politics, and those being coddled feel that they are rewarded for being who they are: They see no reason to become Americans or Norwegians. They are rewarded for being Black, trans, or Muslim.

It is a torpedo against the cohesion of society.

It just becomes a word. Those who talk the most about community are the ones destroying it.

Identity politics is, by definition, polarizing.

The progressive politics engages in a moral game where they stand for the good cause, while the opponents, i.e., those who just want to preserve a traditional society, have “far-right” hung around their necks.

It poisons both politics and public discourse. Here, Kamala Harris is completely in line with what we have seen in France. Unrestrained propaganda.

This policy is dangerous, as we saw in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

But the Democrats and the media refuse to take responsibility.

Those who want us to remember July 22 must understand that it is the progressive policy with its polarization that lays the groundwork for hostility in politics at a level we have not seen since the interwar period.

If you idealize polarization and set groups against each other, while simultaneously banishing traditionalists to the corner of shame, you lay the foundation for conflicts that will only worsen.

The progressives are not able to see this dynamic, which they themselves have created. They only see the sunny side. They are good.

The panegyric around Kamala is not only embarrassing, it is dangerous. It reveals an elite that does not want to relate to reality, only to illusions.
