From Chirac to Macron… Catherine Colonna, new Minister of Foreign Affairs and professional diplomat

His appointment at the head of the Quai d’Orsay was welcomed this Friday as a huge surprise, in the new government. The choice of Catherine Colonna is however quite logical. The name of this 66-year-old seasoned diplomat, who until now held the prestigious post of French Ambassador to London and was Minister Delegate for European Affairs under Jacques Chirac (2005-2007) after being her doorstep for almost ten years -speech at the Elysée, certainly did not appear on the radar of commentators.
