Wide range of accommodation facilities in Fan Villages
He said in an interview to Qatar Radio that 2,000 traditional and modern five-star camps are available for fans on the official accommodation platform www.qatar2022.qa. Al Khor’s Fan Village alone has 200 five-star traditional camps available. Each camp is furnished with two beds and one bathroom. He said that these are large enough to accommodate two people with adequate facilities. Not only that, Al Jaber said that various entertainment programs will be organized in fan villages and huge screens will be installed to watch football matches live. 1,800 state-of-the-art accommodation camps have also been set up for fans in a specially designed Fan Village on Qitaifan Island. Al Jaber said that these have also been added to the accommodation platform.
1.3 lakh rooms have already been booked
After the start of the sale of match tickets, a lot of money is being made in terms of accommodation bookings. Already 130,000 rooms have been booked through the official accommodation platform. Al Jaber added that the official accommodation platform has been operating since March 2022 to provide accommodation for those arriving for the FIFA World Cup, one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
Rooms can also be booked on luxury ships
The accommodation platform offers a wide variety of facilities including hotels of various star categories, giant cruise ships operating as floating hotels in Doha Port, serviced apartments and villas operating as temporary hotels managed by a specialist hospitality service provider. Al Jaber said that the platform has recently included cabin-style accommodation facilities in specially prepared camps in fan villages located in different regions of the country.
All amenities on luxury ships
Two giant cruise ships are ready to serve as floating hotels during the World Cup. He also said that these luxury ships will dock at Doha port on November 10 and 14. Both ships have 4,000 rooms to accommodate more than 9,500 fans. These will have all the facilities available on cruise ships like theatres, cinema halls, sports area, games, swimming pools, commercial outlets and restaurants. Instead of sailing, the ships are anchored at Doha port till the end of the tournament, he said.
He said that room prices on cruise ships vary based on factors such as room amenities, sea-facing or not, and the location of the rooms. Omar Al Jaber, Executive Director of the Housing Department of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, said that international fans coming to Qatar with tickets for the matches should make the most of their stay in the country by selecting the various accommodation facilities available on the official accommodation platform www.qatar2022.qa. Meanwhile, there will be an opportunity to book rooms through other agencies outside the official accommodation platform. Relatives and friends visiting during the World Cup will be accommodated in their own homes, as well as local and foreign residents of the country.
