Rodrigo Cáceres Veloz, former governor of the province of Chimborazo, has assumed the position of Director of Mobility and Transportation Management for the city of Riobamba. This appointment comes after the resignation of the former director of Mobility, Santiago Abarca, last Saturday, July 3, the mayor John Vinueza was tasked with analyzing potential candidates for the vacant post. Regarding your experience in mobility and transit, Caceres He explained to the public that he has 28 years of service in the National Police, where he was part of the traffic police before this responsibility was assumed by civil traffic agents in several cities of the country. “I have commanded several units and have closely followed the traffic problems, meeting needs and implementing strategies and actions in this regard,” said the new director.

Caceres He took office on July 8, 2024 and has already maintained a rapprochement with John Vinueza, mayor of the city, to whom he expressed his commitment to transparency in all his actions. “I have been in office for two days and there is a lot to do. We had a conversation with the mayor and we are clear that we are very committed. Our fundamental pillar is to act with transparency and from that point of view we will continue with the processes,” said Cáceres.

The new director’s role will focus on the development of adequate planning and control of traffic and land transportation in the city of Riobamba. This appointment was officially made by the mayor, as Cáceres mentioned in his morning interview for Plantea radio. The official also highlighted the importance of having a trained work team. “I asked the mayor to allow me to place the work team, and he agreed, especially in the areas that are indispensable. I believe that there are strategic areas where we need to make specific changes,” said Cáceres.

He also assured that the people who will be part of his team will be expert professionals in each area. “We are not going to place people just to return favors or because they are friends. I like to work with professional people who know and understand the subject,” concluded the director.
