by time news

Inspiring: About seven months have passed since Agan Bernal was hit by a bus traveling at a very high speed, near his home in Bogotá. This accident led to the severe injury that sent the 25-year-old to intensive care and almost tragically ended his life.

The Colombian then underwent two successful surgeries on his spine and right leg and today (Monday) came the surprising and happy news: Bernal is returning to compete in the Tour of Denmark: “I want to thank everyone who was there for me along the way,” said the Colombian, “this support helped motivate me throughout A day to continue my recovery and get back in the car. To all of you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Bernal is considered the second most talented climber in the world and after winning the Tour de France in 2019 and the Giro d’Italia in 2021, he was destined to stand out in the French race this year but the serious accident he suffered disrupted all plans in 2022. After a long rehabilitation process, the team believes that the Colombian can return to the highest levels and compete with Teddi Pogchar and Jonas Wingur for the yellow shirt in Tour 2023.
