Kochi: Actress Bhavana reveals about the moments in her life when she was exhausted. Bhavana openly says that at a very difficult time, many in the Malayalam film industry stood by her in the early days but later found it difficult to change her stand. The actress made the revelation in an interview with The Newsminute editor Dhanya Rajendran. Bhavana says that she was with Woman in Cinema Collective and that many people were denied opportunities in cinema because of her support.

Imagination’s words:

‘After that incident, everyone in the Malayalam film industry came together and supported me by organizing an event in Kochi. I was happy to see it. Everyone seemed to be together. But then I was saddened to see people change their minds. Even those who told the truth went backwards. What to say is a personal interest. I do not point a finger at anyone. But many were saddened to see the change.

After that incident, I wanted to stay away from Malayalam cinema. But I was encouraged by many of my colleagues and friends. Prithviraj and director Jinu Abraham and Shaji Kailas approached me for a joint project. Actor Baburaj came to my place in Bangalore and asked me to get out of all this. Anoop Menon even said that his film should be shot in Bangalore. Aashiq Abu offered me two projects. Actor Nandu and director Jean-Paul Lal have repeatedly asked me why I stay away. He asked me to come back. Director Bhadran and Hariharan told me that they have a female oriented script for me. They encouraged me a lot to do that.

Actor Jayasurya once came to my house in Thrissur with a cake for my birthday during the shooting. He tried so hard to comfort me. He said he wanted to be a part of movies. Filmmaker Vijay Babu once called me for a project. Actor Madhu Pal has been telling me for three months that I have a story to read.

I really like my female friends in the movies. There are people I talk to almost every day. There are those who see it many times in person. I talk to Geethu Mohandas, Samyuktha Varma, Manju Warrier, Remya Nambeesan, Sayonara Philip, Mridula Murali, Shilpa Balan and Shafna almost every day.

People like Revathi, makeup artist Ranju Ranjimar and Jeena ask me if I am well and they are praying for me. Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi is someone who has given me unconditional love and support. They spoke for me in multiple places, as a mother and sister do.

Then, those in the Women in Cinema Collective also stood by. Many of these people were denied opportunities because they supported me. Anjali Menon and Didi Damodaran are my strengths. Mia, Navya Nair, Parvathy, Padmapriya, Rima, Anumol, Kavita Nair, Krishnaprabha, Arya Badai, Kani Kusruthi and many others stood by me.

I’m also very grateful to PT Thomas. He was the one who helped me to complain. He had asked me from the beginning that I should fight for justice. He kept telling me that in all difficult times, the truth would prevail. My close friend Shaneem and Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai often text me. Asif Ali, Kunjako Boban, Tovino Thomas, Supriya Prithviraj and Lissy Priyadarshan were with me. Surya Krishnamurthy Sir [സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രവർത്തകൻ] He called me and told me not to give up courage and urged me to fight.
