The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation has been given permission to increase the electricity tariff by 6 percent from July 1 every year. With the new electricity tariff hike coming into force from today, permission has also been given to increase the tariff every year. Due to this, the situation of having to pay high electricity bills every year has hit the people of Tamil Nadu with another thunderbolt. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has already announced that the new electricity tariff hike in Tamil Nadu has come into effect from today. Electricity rates hiked after 8 years Accordingly, no change has been made in the scheme of providing free electricity up to 100 units in the new tariff hike. It has been informed that henceforth, users of 101-200 units will be charged Rs. 27.50 per month plus Rs. 355 for 2 months, users of 201-300 units will be charged Rs. 145 per month plus Rs. 295 per month for users of 301-400 units.
