A quarter of a century ago, the film “Run Lola Run” starring Franka Potente was released. This is how the actress has changed over the years.
A young woman runs through Berlin: In 1998, “Run Lola Run” by director Tom Tykwer was released in cinemas. More than 2.2 million cinemagoers were counted in Germany at the time. For Franka Potente, the role of Lola was her breakthrough. She was 24 years old at the time. Today, July 22, she is celebrating her 50th birthday. This is how she has changed since her great success.
“Run Lola Run” tells the story of the petty criminal Manni, played by Moritz Bleibtreu, and his girlfriend Lola. In order to raise a large sum of money for her friend, Lola runs through Berlin several times.
The film was an audiovisual revelation in 1998 in color, black and white, with slow motion, time lapse, animation and digital effects. Even though “Run Lola Run” came away empty-handed at the Venice Film Festival and later at the Oscars, it did win the German Film Prize in Gold in 1999, which is now called Lola – not only because of “Run Lola Run”, but also because of Lola played by Marlene Dietrich in the classic “The Blue Angel”.

The actress has been honored with various awards for her various achievements.
