Opens in L’Aquila on 24 July with ‘Swan Lake’ by the New Classical Ballet heir to the award-winning Cosi-Stefanescu company, ‘I cento passi’, an international dance festival directed by Loredana Errico and Amalia Salzano scheduled until 18 September. A calendar full of events that includes, among other things, the presence of the Compagnia Movimento Danza of Naples, of the Gruppo Danza Oggi of Patrizia Salvatori with workshops and site-specific shows, the flamenco star Sergio Bernal (‘Una noche con Sergio Bernal, on August 2), the Egribianco company of Turin alongside the Sicilian choreographer and director Roberto Zappalà, the Megakles Ballet company.

“The 2023 edition of the Festival reflects the need to clarify the function that Festivals have and the role they play in today’s society, changed considerably by the events that have affected the whole world – declare the two artistic directors – A Festival is always a ‘popular festival’, with manifestations of art, culture, folklore. A celebration of living together to share new artistic experiences with all the companies, dancers, choreographers, authors with whom we share a passion for theater and Tersicore”.

“Dance must start from the territories and must start from young people to grow new generations of artists – said Mvula Sungani, councilor for dance of the Ministry of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano – The minister and his offices are working for the implementation of the Code of entertainment. The Festival of 100 steps is already an excellence, it must continue to grow and be a point of reference for the culture of dance in central Italy”.
