“I lost my leg when I was six years old and thanks to the humanitarian corridors I managed to get here to Italy from Syria. Now I live in Pomezia and one day, while I was doing my physical education lesson, I started playing football. While I was kicking the ball the teacher saw me and decided to put me in contact with the Fair Play School.” This was said by the footballer of the Fair Play School, Al Bdeiwi Diya Talai, on the sidelines of the annual Sports Oscars event “Asi Sport & Cultura” which was held yesterday in Rome where he collected the Ethical Gesture award. “Thanks to the Fair Play School I was able to get a lot of help and realize my biggest dream, which was to play football with one leg,” concluded the young man.

“Receiving this award is very important for us because we need to spread the message that sport must be open to everyone, no one excluded, a message that must reach all of Italy. This is a very important award that allows us to reach as many people as possible,” added the co-founder of the Fairplay School, Luca Zavatti. “The prize they gave us was possible thanks to Diya who is the symbol of the Fair Play School. Her story began a year and a half ago when, through social media, her teacher got to know the Fair Play School. Diya wants to play football and so we met him and brought him to our school. The role of Anna Foglietta and Every child was important as they wanted to meet the boy to support our football school. Every child donated a scholarship for the boy and he was given a smart that will allow him to become independent. This is a very important message for us because sport is for everyone”, concluded Zavatti.
