From the Olympic Games to the Lithuanian Championship: “We wanted to end the season victoriously”

The brothers Domantas and Dovydas Stankūnas, who recently returned from the Olympic Games in Paris, also started in the championships. Unlike their colleagues, the Olympic debutants who took 8th place in Paris were in no hurry to rest.

“We have a tradition – we want to compete as long as possible and win as many Lithuanian Championship medals as possible,” smiled Dovydas. “And we still wanted to end the season victoriously.”

The twins won gold medals in the double sculls and double sculls and the coxed eights.

But even after the start of the Lithuanian championship, they did not hurry home – together with their third brother Povilas, they could be seen in the gym.

“This is our recreation – free, active. We don’t want to lose the athletic form we’ve worked so hard on, so we’ll try to maintain it, albeit much more loosely. Maybe we will go to the beach to start the beach sprint competition. We’ll see,” Dovydas was intrigued.

The Baltic Beach Sprint Championship he mentioned will take place on August 17-18 at Melnragė’s second beach in Klaipėda.
