Today on KCH FM Radio and KCH TV the economist Miguel Ángel González, president of the Ecuadorian Business Committee, discussed the position of the business sector before the early elections in August.

Like the rest of the citizens and other entities, the business sector is waiting for what happens in the coming months after the declaration of cross death issued by President Guillermo Lasso last month. What is clear is that they want changes in the country.

For the economist Miguel Ángel González, the death cross is the manifestation of the failure of the political class. In these elections, he hopes that those who come to power are capable people and, above all, committed to working for the good of Ecuadorians.

“We are not partisans, we call on the citizens to vote well for the candidates,” he said.

The economist González commented that he would like the candidates to sign a document of minimum consensus with which they commit to the country: basic aspects such as citizen security, health, education and management of citizens.

The main issue today is security. All the candidates are focusing on it more than on the economic proposals, a position in which the economist agreed: organized crime is fought in an organized way.

The President of the Ecuadorian Business Committee stressed that it is important for politicians to work in an articulated manner, with synergy. “This is not just a government responsibility, but a state responsibility.”

In economic matters, González commented that the lack of employment is still latent and an economic plan must be made so that the country generates greater productive activity, with investment.

“I bet on economic growth, investment must be generated,” said the economist, “that is where the responsibility of the political class comes in: the private sector invests, but there must be legal certainty.” According to González, it is important to generate tax incentives for companies, despite the fact that it generates a feeling for politicians that less money enters the Treasury.

Family Economy Strengthening Law

The Business Committee hopes that the Tax Reform sent by the Legislature to the National Assembly will be approved (as long as the new Plenary is not established, it will be examined by the Constitutional Court).

He believes that the approval of this reform will rectify the previous law that imposed more taxes on the middle class and will put liquidity in the pockets of Ecuadorians.

“One of the problems in Ecuador is that economic principles are violated, they go against the people,” said González, “the countries that advance respect the economy.”

Relationship with the Municipality of Guayaquil

“Relations with the Municipality of Guayaquil are good, our loyalty to the city leads us to be responsible with it. That implies building bridges and shaking hands with the elected authorities, regardless of the party they are from,” Gonzales assured that they will work together with the Mayor’s Office. “We hope they put the city, the country, above politics.”

Regarding the powers of Parque Samanes, the economist commented that the Ecuadorian Business Committee agrees that things work well.

“We are analyzing who should carry out this competition, the important thing is that it works and if the Guayaquil Mayor’s Office is willing, there being legal responsibility, to do it,” he said, “it doesn’t matter who gets the merits, but that it works.” .
