The Government, through Royal Decree-Law 11/2022 and with the intention of counter inflation caused, among other things, by the war in Ukraine, ordered a reduction in VAT on certain food and supplies, as well as limitations on the price of the butane cylinderwhich will remain capped until December 31.

Thus, the maximum price of the 12.5 kilo bottle is set at 19,55 eurosalthough currently its cost is 15.96 euros, according to the last review in May, accumulating a decrease of more than 18% since November 2022.
The next review will be on July 23 and by then it may not exceed 16.76 euros, since the revisions cannot be more than 5%. However, according to OCU, it is “very foreseeable that in July the price of the cylinder will remain at 15.17 euros, taking into account that the tariff surplus has grown significantly after the May review, since it has gone from 0.96 euros per cylinder at 1.76 euros, giving a lot of margin for future decreases in the price of butane”.
