The process of filing nominations for this year’s local council elections will begin from today (18.01.2023).
The Election Commission has informed that the said nominations will be accepted till 12 noon on the 21st.
The payment works related to the local council election will continue till the next day tomorrow (20.01.2023) after starting on the 4th.

Also, Election Commission Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake said that the election date will be announced after filing nominations.
So far, 29 political parties and 52 independent groups have been declared to have paid their dues for the elections.
The Election Commission said that between 08.30 am and 04.15 pm yesterday, those parties and independent groups have paid the bond money and 52 independent groups have paid the bond money for 50 local councils.
