San Salvador. The Network of Survivors and People with Disabilities Foundation, with the aim of promoting the economic autonomy of people with disabilities, developed workshops aimed at all people who require rapid and sustainable training in the trade of upholstery and painting for maintenance and wheelchair repair.

Said project with a self-sustainability approach also includes the establishment of a wheelchair factory; the beneficiaries were 40 young people with disabilities from the departments of San Salvador, La Libertad and La Paz.

The project was financed, in part, with funds delivered in the 17th edition of the NGO category of the Helping Those Who Help Program.

“The objective of the Helping Those Who Help Program is to work hand in hand with organizations such as the Survivors Network Foundation and People with disabilities, who have identified a problem and seek a solution through innovative and self-sustaining projects,” said Roberto Kriete, president of the Gloria Kriete Foundation.

“Through the implementation of these workshops and the wheelchair factory, we are making it possible for young people with disabilities to enter the labor market. We appreciate the support of the Gloria Kriete Foundation to make this project a reality”, mentioned Wendy Caishpal, executive director of the Network of Survivors and People with Disabilities Foundation.

The Program works in three strategic areas: NGOs, Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship. To learn more about the project or the program, you can visit the website www.fundaciongloriakriete.org.
