Fruits and vegetables are becoming more expensive in our country

The State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) reports a minimal increase in the prices of some basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the stock exchanges in the country during the week in its weekly bulletin.

The market price index (CPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, rose by 0.01 percent to 2.035 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,033 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Greenhouse cucumbers became cheaper by 4.7 percent to BGN 2.90 per kilogram. In the case of tomatoes, the price of greenhouses is higher by 6.5 percent to BGN 2.80 per kilogram, while in the case of tomatoes from open areas, it is down by 1.6 percent to BGN 1.67 per kilogram. Green pepper increased in price by 0.6 percent and it is traded at BGN 1.82 per kilogram.

The price of potatoes jumped by 2.1 percent to BGN 1.09 per kilogram, and that of carrots fell by 0.7 percent to BGN 1.16 per kilogram. Ripe onions are more expensive by 1.4 percent to BGN 1.13 per kilogram, and cabbage by 8.2 percent to BGN 1.13 per kilogram.

Lemons rose in price by 4.8 percent to BGN 3.30 per kilogram, and bananas by 3.3 percent to BGN 2.81 per kilogram. The price of peaches is up by 0.2 percent to BGN 2.34 per kilogram, while that of apricots is down by 8.3 percent to BGN 2.55 per kilogram. Watermelons are cheaper by 1 percent to BGN 0.62 per kilogram, while melons are more expensive by 12.1 percent to BGN 1.15 per kilogram.

The price of cow’s cheese jumped by 0.3 percent to BGN 11.02 per kilogram, and of “Vitosha” cheese – by 0.2 percent to BGN 16.79 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) has increased in price by 4.2 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.30 for a bucket of 400 grams, and fresh milk (3 percent fat content) – by 0.3 percent to 2 .28 BGN per liter.

The price of chicken meat rises by 1.6 percent and is available at BGN 6.46 per kilogram, while that of eggs (size M) falls by 2.7 percent to BGN 0.29 per wholesale unit.

Rice is cheaper by 1.8 percent to BGN 3.31 per kilogram, and lentils are more expensive by 0.6 percent and is respectively BGN 4.35 per kilogram. The price of ripe beans fell by 0.6 percent to BGN 4.23 per kilogram.

Sugar became cheaper by 0.7 percent and traded at BGN 1.99 per kilogram, while oil rose by 0.2 percent to BGN 2.78 per liter. The price of type 500 flour fell by 3.1 percent to BGN 1.32 per kilogram, and that of cow butter (125 gram package) jumped by 2.2 percent to BGN 2.79 per piece.
