FT: Royal speech reflects HM the King’s commitment to the country’s water security (Academic)
Agadir – The speech delivered by HM King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the Throne Day reflects the Sovereign’s undeniable commitment to guaranteeing the country’s water security and the protection of public hydraulic heritage, said Hossein El Farouah, professor of economics at the Ibnou Zohr University of Agadir.
In his speech, HM the King sounded the alarm on the problem of water stress plaguing Morocco following six years of continuous drought, underlined Mr. El Farouah in a statement to MAP, noting that the Sovereign , in this regard, insisted on the need to launch structuring projects to ensure the supply of this vital material to the entire population.
And to add that the Royal speech outlined a clear roadmap for sustainable and realistic management of water policy in Morocco over the coming years.
In this sense, the Sovereign emphasized the need to define priorities and adapt strategies and plans to the current situation, within the framework of a water policy based on proactivity in the development of programs and projects as well as the convergence between all government departments capable of ensuring the full success of the management of the phenomenon of water shortage, he underlined.
And to conclude that the government is invited to effectively and adequately implement the royal directives contained in the Speech from the Throne, concerning the management of the water problem, with the aim of ensuring the permanent supply of the Kingdom in drinking and irrigation water.
