FTS Participações Societárias won the lease of the PAR50 port area, at the Port of Paranaguá, Paraná, with a grant amount of R$ 1 million. The company was the only bidder in an auction held this Friday afternoon, the 24th, at B3 (BVMF:), in São Paulo.

The area has 85,000 square meters and is west of the port’s pier.

The space is dedicated to liquid bulk, according to Portos do Paraná, a state public company responsible for managing the port complex of Paranaguá and Antonina (PR).

The institutional director of FTS Participações, Alex Ávila, said that investments for the operation of the PAR50 area should start in two years.

The 25-year lease provides for R$ 338.2 million in investments.

“For the operation, we still have stages to be overcome”, stated Ávila in a press conference to comment on the result of the auction. “We have something like two years to start making the investments.”

Last year, FTS bought another area of the port, PAR32, whose contract was signed this week. PAR50 is a handling area for a type of cargo that the company does not currently operate.

Ávila stated that the idea is to diversify the company’s business. “We seek to expand our portfolio of services, and obviously raising our level of service in the market.”
