The Portuguese Fu Yu was eliminated on Tuesday in the second round of the women’s singles table tennis tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, losing to Polish player Natalia Bajor, 4-3.

At the Paris South Arena, the Portuguese player, ranked 80th in the world, was defeated by Bajor (48th) with scores of 11-7, 11-8, 15-17, 4-11, 7-11, 12-10, and 11-8, in 58 minutes.

With Fu Yu’s elimination, who at 45 years old was looking to become the first Portuguese woman to reach the round of 16 in table tennis, the singles tournaments at Paris 2024 will have no Portuguese representation.

Portugal will still participate in the men’s team competition, which starts on August 5.
