Fuel allowance: you have a few hours left to claim it

by time news

At midnight, it will be too late. This Friday is the last day to file the fuel compensation claim. In the amount of 100 euros, it was put in place by the government to compensate for the end of discounts at the pump since the beginning of the year.

It is intended for people who use their personal vehicle to get to work. The reference tax income must be less than 14,700 euros per year and per unit. As it is paid individually and not by household, two people from the same tax household can apply for it.

Greater demand in rural areas

The authorities estimated, at the launch of this operation, that around 10 million people would be eligible. But the French concerned have obviously not all taken the step. RMC thus revealed on Thursday that 4 million checks have already been paid. Rural areas are more concerned than urban areas and in particular the Paris region. In mid-February, around 5% of eligible Parisians had asked to benefit from the check.

Seven million requests have already been made, of which three million have been refused. On the tax website, you must write a sworn statement justifying the use of your car to get to work.

The government insists that 100 euros corresponds to “a discount of more than 10 cents per liter for one year for an average motorist (12,200 km per year with a vehicle consuming 6.5L/100km)”. The tax services remind you that to make your request, you must have your tax notice (income tax, housing or property tax) to fill in your tax number. You must also have the gray card, check your bank details and, if possible, have an email address.

A hotline can be reached free of charge until 7 p.m. on 0806 000 229.
