Fuel drops to pre-aid prices of 20 cents a litre

BarcelonaThe average price of fuel has continued to fall in the last week, with a 2.4% decrease, and is already below the levels at the end of March, when the bonus of 20 cents per liter was adopted to deal with the impact of the war in Ukraine. Specifically, the average price of a liter of gasoline has fallen for the fourth consecutive week by 1.63%, and has fallen back to 1,680 euros, the lowest level since mid-April, according to data from the Oil Bulletin of the European Union. In the case of diesel, it has registered a decrease of 2.41% and has fallen for the third week in a row to stand at 1.822 euros, the lowest level since the penultimate week of August.

The two fuels are further away from the summer highs: in July petrol reached 2.141 euros and diesel 2.1 euros. They are now below the levels prior to the entry into force of the bonus – 1.818 euros per liter in the case of petrol and 1.837 euros for diesel. However, the average price of a liter of diesel in Spain remains higher than that of petrol for the seventh consecutive week, with a difference of just over 14 cents.

In this way, with regard to the same week a year ago, the average price of a liter of gasoline is 14.5% more expensive, while in the case of diesel it has become more expensive by almost 41.2% , although without taking into account the currently valid bonus. Including the subsidy, the price of a liter of petrol is 3% more expensive than a year ago, while in the case of diesel the price is 25.7% higher. These figures are recorded in an environment of high oil prices in the current context, marked by the war in Ukraine.
