Fuel is being sold at a loss despite rising prices

Power and Energy Minister Kanjana Wijesekera has said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will continue to suffer losses despite the increase in fuel prices on the 18th.

The minister pointed out that diesel and petrol are being sold at a loss despite rising prices.

He said the price of a liter of kerosene was 313 rupees but it was being sold at 87 rupees.

Minister Kanjana Wijesekera further stated that the daily loss to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation before the price increase on April 18 was 1613 million rupees.
