Ajman: Ajman authorities have announced a reduction in taxi service rates after fuel prices in the UAE reached their lowest level in eight months. Ajman Transport informed that the taxi meter rate will be 1.82 dirhams per km.
Taxi fares in Ajman vary according to fuel prices every month. As fuel prices increased, so did taxi fares in July. Public transport fares have also been revised. Fuel prices in the UAE are now at an eight-month low, after falling for the third month in a row. Fuel prices in the country started rising in February this year. In the context of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, fuel prices crossed four dirhams for the first time in history in June. After that the price gradually decreased.

The price of Super 98 petrol in the UAE was Dh4.63 when the Russia-Ukraine invasion that began in February reached its worst in July. It was the highest fuel price in the country’s history. When the fuel price for the month of October was announced two days ago, the price of Super 98 petrol was Dh3.03. It was 3.41 dirhams in September. The prices of other grades of petrol and diesel have been reduced by the same figure. In February this year, the price of Super 98 petrol was 2.94 dirhams, but in March it was 3.23 dirhams.

Since 2015, the price of crude oil in the international market has been fixed to determine the fuel price in the retail market in the UAE. A Fuel Pricing Committee has been appointed to revise the prices accordingly every month. Crude oil prices have soared above $100 a barrel following the ongoing Russian-Ukraine conflict, but prices have been falling over the past few months. In October, the price of Super 98 petrol is 3.03 dirhams, Special 95 petrol is 2.92 dirhams and E-Plus petrol is 2.85 dirhams.
