Fuels: the tax on refinery superprofits should be renewed in 2024

French hydrocarbon producers are at serious risk of going back to the cash register next year. The general rapporteur of the budget to the Assembly, Jean-René Cazeneuve, will in fact table an amendment to the finance bill for 2024 in this sense, as revealed by “L’Opinion”.

The Renaissance MP wants to extend for one year the “temporary solidarity contribution” which this year takes a third of the super profits of French refineries, defined as exceeding the average profits of the previous four years by 20%.
