In St. Petersburg, on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater, as part of the traditional winter tour of the ballet troupe of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater, the ballet “A Thousand and One Nights” by the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov was shown.
Day.Az was informed about this by the chief conductor and musical director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, laureate of international competitions Eyyub Guliyev.
The tour takes place at the invitation of the general director of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and the Mariinsky Theater, the world famous conductor Valery Gergiev.
This year, the ballet troupe of the Primorsky Stage presented on the historical and new stages of the Mariinsky Theater the ballets “Raymonda” by Alexander Glazunov, “Corsair” by Adolphe Adam, “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and “A Thousand and One Nights” by Fikret Amirov, staged by the world-famous choreographer, our compatriot , Honored Artist of Russia, artistic director of the ballet troupe of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater Eldar Aliyev.
The series of performances opened with a show of a masterpiece of Azerbaijani musical culture – the ballet “A Thousand and One Nights” by the great Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov.
Scheherazade’s tales, told in the language of choreography, graced the new stage of the Mariinsky Theater on February 13, 14 and 17. The shows were sold out and were a huge success.
In the play “A Thousand and One Nights” the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Eyyub Guliyev took the helm of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra and Choir. The Mariinsky Theater orchestra also included the Azerbaijani national instrument – the tar, which was performed by Ramin Azimov and Nadezhda Medvedeva.
The Consul General of Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg, Sultan Gasimov, attended the performances.
