Speaking about Neringa’s summer season, Arūnas Burkšas, a tourism entrepreneur and representative of Neringa businessmen’s association “Neringas vētrungės”, said in the “Ryto Espresso” program of “Žinių radio” that such success was probably due to good weather.
Although there was both rain and cooler weather at the beginning of July, the overall mood is exceptionally good.
“I called my colleagues at the hotels and the biggest hotel in Neringa, they share in every sense that it’s a great summer”, assured A. Burkšas.
The interviewer also shared his experience as an entrepreneur in managing a campsite in Kurote. From the number of people arriving and staying, it can already be said that the flows that existed before the pandemic have recovered. Nevertheless, the ongoing war on the sidelines is also somewhat depressing.
“It’s the German tourists, campers, backpackers who have stayed with us and have fully recovered,” commented the radio show participant.
It is noticeable that Lithuanians want to ensure warm sea water and good weather, so they tend to travel from mid-July to mid-August, when foreigners do it all year round. Not only Westerners come here, but also from the Balkan countries.
“It’s actually nice that you can feel the movement of foreign tourists even from the second half of April, it was quite nice in May,” he said.
However, they don’t complain about the prices, like Lithuanians – they understand that if you want something, you have to pay for it. However, the interviewer agrees that Lithuanians like to take comfort in prices.
Perhaps there are still stereotypes that Neringa is expensive. It is still possible to find cheaper places – after all, if you compare the center of Vilnius with the outskirts of Vilnius, the price will also differ significantly, he presented the comparison.
The higher prices in the resort are explained by the low supply – there are not enough places to stay. In addition, those who want to save some money can go on vacation not in Nida, but in Preila or Pervalka.
“Neringiškis have a short season and anyway, they have to earn for the whole year. Of course, in the last few years the costs have increased insanely, the income has not increased that much”, he assured.
It is probably even more difficult to provide catering services in the resort due to students leaving at the end of the summer or young people who wanted to earn money in Neringa during the summer. We are looking for ways to fill vacancies, how and where to accommodate employees.
A. Burkš, who talks to businessmen, has already heard that the menu selection is being reduced simply because of a lack of staff.
Although businesses are still in summer mode, prices have already started to drop towards autumn. However, arrivals are also expected in autumn, and there should be no shortage of accommodation: whoever seeks, finds.
