Then we have an exciting challenge for you! In the spring of 2024, we will recruit for the functional police training (FPU).

What does the function-oriented police training mean?

The function-oriented police training is basic training for police officers for prioritized functions in the Police Authority’s operations. The studies run full-time with a high rate of study over 1 year with approx. 15 compulsory study weeks and take place at the assigned university. The training is aimed at specific target groups that bring with them special competence and experience, which means that the training can be compressed in scope and design. Participants at FPU are employed and have a fixed salary during the education.

Applicants who receive employment will be trained as police officers in accordance with Functional Police Training (Police Ordinance 2014:1104 and Ordinance on training for police officers 2014:1105).

After completed and approved studies and post-graduate training as well as security clearance, the participant is hired as a police assistant, gets a permanent job and is placed at region West, the Investigation Unit, the section regional IT crime center with the function of fraud investigator and location in Gothenburg.

Region West

Police Region Väst consists of Halland County and Västra Götaland County. Operations in the region are organized in five police areas: Fyrbodal, Halland, Skaraborg, Storgöteborg and Älvsborg, which together are divided into 16 local police areas. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit and the investigation unit, a regional office and national departments that are represented in the region to provide support to police operations.

The investigation unit

The regional investigation unit is responsible together with the police areas for the region’s investigative activities. The investigation unit coordinates and drives business development from a regional perspective in collaboration with the national operational department and other regions. The regional investigation unit works with, among other things, the investigation of serious crime, crime victim work and forensics.

Regional IT Crime Centre

At Region West’s investigation unit, there is the regional IT crime center section. The section contains several different areas of expertise, all with a focus on supplementing and contributing to the region’s investigative activities. Regional IT crime center West is tasked with investigating and assisting with cutting-edge expertise in investigations with IT-related elements. The section also has a mission to contribute to increasing the competence of investigative activities regarding IT-related crime throughout the region.

Job description

As an internet collector, you primarily work with collecting, processing and to some extent analyzing crime and incident information obtained mainly from internet sources. You evidence obtains information that is valuable for the ongoing preliminary investigations and has a close dialogue and cooperation with those who are responsible for the preliminary investigation. You will work as part of a team with a focus on building and/or supporting the preliminary investigations.

RC3 is the region’s knowledge bearer in terms of IT-related investigation measures and has a mission to increase the regional capacity regarding all types of crimes with IT elements. Part of this is assisting other investigation groups in cases with complex digital elements. We cooperate regularly with other regional IT crime centers in Sweden as well as with the National IT crime centre.
The business is characterized by a high awareness of security and is conducted with a high degree of legal certainty. RC3 is a self-sufficient section with various competencies that handles everything from mapping, house searches, interrogations, internet retrieval and analysis to reporting in court. We work in teams to benefit from the different knowledge of the section as we put all the pieces of the puzzle in place.

There may also be additional general police tasks depending on the needs of the business.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • At least a university degree in IT with a focus on cyber security, information security, forensics or similar.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience for the function full-time and in the immediate future, for example in the IT or information security sphere, alternatively finance-related investigation in e.g. the tax authority, the insurance fund or bank, alternatively the corresponding criminal investigation assignment.
  • Swedish B driver’s license for manual transmission
  • Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of information search via open sources, e.g. social media from working life
  • Work experience of having handled large data sets of information
  • It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Accustomed to working in Linux systems
  • Experience with log analysis
  • Experience in intelligence work
  • Work experience of oral presentations
  • Experience and/or understanding of blockchain technology
  • Experience of working with method development
  • Experience or education in another relevant field, for example behavioral science, systems science, journalism, criminology, political science or anything else that the employer deems relevant.

Other information

Location: Gothenburg
Working hours: Scheduled study time. After approved aspirant training, you work during the day with flex.
Access: Start of employment v. 45/46 with an initial introduction of 2-3 weeks at the future workplace and a preparatory training starting in v. 48. This takes place before the function-oriented training starts v. 3 2025.
Function and location: During your studies, you will be employed as an administrator
Place of work: During the operational training, you will be placed in Region Väst, the Investigation Unit, location Gothenburg. The studies during the function-oriented police training mostly take place remotely with approx. 14 so-called close study weeks which are mandatory and take place at Malmö University.

The recruitment process:
The first selection is based on survey responses and received application documents. The applicants who go on are invited to a digital information meeting planned for v. 11.

After the digital information meeting, trials take place at the Swedish Duty and Trials Agency from v. 13 at their offices either in Malmö, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Those who pass the tests will then be invited to an employment interview for the requested function. Tests may be carried out.

Terms of employment:
Time-limited employment as an administrator during implementation of the function-oriented police training including introduction.
Time-limited employment as a police aspirant during the aspirant training (6 months) in police region West.
Permanent employment as a police assistant is offered after approved training and subsequent approved aspirant. The employment begins with a 6-month trial employment.

During the training and aspirant training, a salary of SEK 29,000/month is paid. After approved training, approved aspirant training and security clearance, an individual salary is set according to the function applied for.
