Board members also approved the figures for the first six months of the year

This Monday (17) the advisors of the Animal Sanitary Development and Defense Fund of RS approved the figures for the first half of 2023. Fundesa’s current balance is almost R$ 131 million. The value is divided among the four chains (poultry and eggs, pigs and beef and dairy farming) according to the collection of contributions. Tickets – between collections and financial income – were R$ 13.9 million in the period. The application of resources was R$ 5.585 million, of which more than R$ 3 million referred to indemnities.

At the same meeting, the figures for the second quarter of the year were presented. One of the main contributions was R$ 348.5 thousand, referring to the acquisition of Personal Protective Equipment used for field work and inspection on properties and in case of suspected diseases. Another large amount contributed was for compensation for the slaughter or sacrifice of sick dairy and beef cattle, totaling R$ 581.3 thousand. Resources were also provided for training employees of the Official Veterinary Service, acquisition of Elisa test kits and other laboratory supplies, in addition to strengthening the prevention campaigns against Avian Influenza and African Swine Fever.

The councilors also ratified a proposal from the Poultry Operational Technical Council on the regulation of indemnities for poultry establishments for reproduction and commercial cutting and also for eggs. The approved proposal concerns the need to be up to date with the payment of contributions to Fundesa-RS. According to the president of the Fund, Rogério Kerber, the decision is important because the indemnities are related to the account of the poultry sector, since each chain has its numbers segregated and there must be availability for the application of resources only in contributing producers.

The accountability of Fundesa-RS is carried out every quarter and is available on the website www.fundesa.com.br.
