Fur producers urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to introduce labeling of eco-fur coats

by time news

Russian fur producers have asked the government to tighten controls and include faux fur products on the list of light industry products subject to mandatory labeling. RBC writes about this with reference to the appeal of the Russian Lush Fur Union (RPMS) to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The RPMS believes that due to the growing popularity of eco-fur coats on the market, the number of fakes of natural fur products is increasing, and this puts the manufacturers of such products in an unequal position and may contribute to its illegal circulation.

Now, on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), there is a mandatory marking of products made from real fur. A special RFID tag is applied to them, with which you can read the QR code to get all the information about the manufacturer and the product. Now the supranational regulator of the EAEU, the Eurasian Economic Commission, plans to replace RFID marking with the DataMatrix system, which is a two-dimensional barcode (RFID technology is considered to be more expensive to use).

Earlier, the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT) proposed expanding the list of types of clothing subject to mandatory labeling – it is proposed to include felt outerwear, faux fur clothing, tracksuits, sweaters, skirts, trousers, ties, scarves and other goods. Retailers believe that this will help consumers better distinguish between which products are labeled or not, as well as simplify logistics, accounting and the work of regulatory authorities.
