Futsal: National coach Hicham Dguig named best coach in the world for 2023 by a specialist site (FRMF)
Rabat – The specialist website “Futsalplanet.com” has named the national coach, Hicham Dguig, the best coach in the world for 2023, reports the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
The national coach was rewarded after leading the Atlas Lions to several international, continental and regional titles in recent years, the same source said.
Hicham Dguig thus succeeds the Portuguese, Jorge Gomes Braz, named best coach for the last 5 years (2018-2022). He is the first Arab and African coach to win this distinction.
Having arrived at the head of the Moroccan futsal selection in 2010, Dguig became the architect of the best performances in the history of the national team by winning the Arab Cup (3), the African Cup of Nations (3) and the Confederations Cup (1). He also reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 World Cup.
The national futsal team is currently preparing for the World Cup, which will take place from September 14 to October 6, 2024 in Uzbekistan. The tournament draw placed the Atlas Lions in Group E, alongside Portugal, Panama and Tajikistan.
