Such conclusions were reached by the participants of the meeting, which took place within the walls of the BrSU named after Pushkin. Andrey Gashev, Director General of Brest City Housing and Public Utilities KUMPP, and Marina Vasko, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, visited the first-year students, who are mastering a new specialty for the university – Urbanology and City Management. A kind of “round table” was held at the initiative of the teachers of the Department of Geography and Nature Management of the BrSU. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Maxim Bogdasarov, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Science Alexander Sidorovich, Head of the Department Oksana Gryadunova and Curator of the group Irina Abramova took an active part in the meeting.

Marina Vasko explained to the students the main provisions of the Law “On the Protection of the Rights of Consumers of Housing and Communal Services” and shared her practical parliamentary experience, what work she does in the housing and communal services sector in the district and what questions citizens most often turn to. And most importantly – how these issues are resolved.

Andrey Gashev, the general director of the city housing and communal services, also turned out to have a lively dialogue with students. Andrey Gennadievich answered numerous and very topical questions of freshmen. Students were not only interested in various aspects of the housing and communal services, but also shared various interesting initiatives. Andrei Gashev assured the youth that such meetings would be held on a regular basis.

Student Vyacheslav Ivanis shared his impressions of the meeting:

“It was an extremely important meeting for all of us. Live communication with a professional from the field in which, after graduation, some graduates of our specialty will definitely find themselves. At this meeting, I realized that my ideas are needed not only for me. I shared my thoughts on creating a map of accessible routes for people with limited mobility, and my idea was supported. Andrei Gennadyevich assured us that this project could help improve Brest, and he himself is ready to provide practical assistance in implementing these changes. We also discussed the possibility of passing educational and industrial practices at housing and communal services, including limited access. This is very important precisely because urbanologists are practitioners. Of course, there is always not enough time at such meetings, even if it lasted a day. I believe that this is only the beginning of our cooperation and all the most interesting and useful things are ahead of us,” the young man said.
