“The money itself and the fact of acquisition are not the problem, the problem is the circumstances. The story came from the bunker in Greece, which was told that they started searching during the COVID-19 and searched, searched, searched again and found it when the Russian army crossed the border of Ukraine,” A. Širinskienė told “Žinių Radio” on Friday.

“I am no longer convinced by the situation that you search and find, pay an advance exactly when the war begins. If it wasn’t hidden, I could still think it was a coincidence,” emphasized the politician.

According to A. Širinskienė, the arguments expressed by the Minister of Elta on Wednesday were just evasion. According to her, the opposition still has questions for G. Landsbery, which the latter will have to answer in the Seimas.

“If Landsberg had explained a year ago, it would have been clearer. Now we see the air vibrating with sayings that I am not a circus pony and I will not explain anything. (…) The first principle in politics is that you have to explain everything,” the politician taught.

For his part, G. Landsbergis told Eltai that the scandal regarding the family’s property in Greece crosses the boundaries of privacy. According to the politician, his family started looking for real estate in 2020, and a specific object appeared in 2021, and the purchased villa was declared in accordance with all requirements.

“Raising a drone over a private house – it’s like if someone broke into a private house and after looking at my wardrobe, printing what color my shirt or other knitwear is, it would cause a public debate: can you believe that Landsberg has so and so blue shirts. Then you are asked to comment on this question. No matter what kind of politician he is, he is not a circus pony created by others. I don’t have to dance. This is a private house, this is a private space. In my opinion, this is not correct behavior”, concluded G. Landsbergis.

The minister emphasized that both he and his family would be determined to defend Lithuania in case of war.

ELTA reminds that last week “Lietuvos rytas” reported that G. Landsberg’s family bought a luxury villa on the Greek island of Aegina. According to the newspaper, the plot with the buildings is registered in the name of Austėja Landsbergienė, the wife of the minister.

As “Lietuvos rytas” announced, A. Landsbergienė paid 255 thousand for this real estate back in February 2022. euro advance. After the publication appeared, questions arose in the public sphere due to the fact that the month of the purchase of the plot coincides with the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In response to this news, representatives of the Seimas opposition collected signatures for questions about the real estate owned by G. Landsbergis’s wife in Greece. The signatories are going to ask the minister why, the minister’s family bought luxury real estate at a similar time when Russia attacked Ukraine and whether it sends an ambiguous message.

A. Landsbergienė’s property declarations for 2022 and 2023 show 795 thousand. EUR real estate abroad.
