G. Landsbergis has a version of why he found himself in the spotlight

“The questions were answered – obviously, there were no clarifications or additional questions even from the audience.

Naturally, having the chairman of the ruling party on the podium was a kind of political success and attempts were made to capitalize on it.

I tried as much as possible to answer before this step – to familiarize the public and the media with my answers and all positions were known.

I think that I have submitted as much as is mandatory, and the rest is already political boxing”, G. Landsbergis commented to the media after answering the questions of parliamentarians from the podium of the Seimas.

However, when asked by journalists if he could provide correspondence or contracts with real estate companies to make it clearer that housing in Greece was really scouted before the war, the minister assured that he would not do so.

“I’m not going to give anything more – it seems to me that you yourself understand what I said, that in order to purchase real estate, a preparatory period is required, it’s simply remember the dates will become clear to you”, urged G. Landsbergis.

According to him, the purchase of a second home abroad is connected with the only thing – the period of the coronavirus.

“If we make a lifestyle here, you must be very curious – it was simply a quarantine. Many people were looking for a second home, just like we were looking for a second home to spend the holidays on. It’s all a big story,” the conservative leader taught.

It is true, according to G. Landsbergis, these and similar stories and “absurd” questions may appear in the public space before the elections for a reason.

“What do you think it is?” Just out of the blue, a few weeks before the elections, a story from 2019 suddenly became extremely interesting for journalists?” asked G. Landsbergis, complaining that one media outlet now remembered another old story.

“It’s not the first day I work, it’s not the first day you work, it’s not the first time we see stories that appear before the elections. Everything is fine with that – we survived before, we will survive now,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

G. Landsbergis, who received questions about the family’s purchased villa on the Greek island, said that the insinuations and accusations made by the Seimas opposition are “demagogically manipulative”.

The conservative leader assures that some of the questions are offensive not only to him, but also to his relatives.

“The insinuations and accusations in the questions are completely wrong, unfounded and incorrect, and demagogically manipulative,” said G. Landsbergis from the rostrum of the parliamentary plenary session hall, answering the questions of the Seimas minority.
