Gabba test; Travis Head hits 85-ball century; Australia’s lead close to 200

GabbaAustralia’s Travis Head bats in ODI style on the second day of the Gabba Test in the Ashes. This is Travis’ first century in the Ashes.

Travis hit three off 85 balls. Travis was unbeaten on 112 off 95 balls with 12 fours and two sixes. Mitchell Stark is at the crease with Travis.

At stumps on the second day, Australia were 347 for seven. Australia now have a 196-run first innings lead. This is Travis’ third Test century. Gabba was concerned about whether Travis could earn a place in the playing XI.

Travis Head seizes opportunity in the playing XI

Usman Khawaja is expected to replace Travis. But Travis took advantage of the opportunity. Earlier, David Warner had fallen to the edge of the century. Warner returned with 94 off 176 balls with 11 fours and two sixes.

Warner added a second-wicket partnership of 152 with Labuschain. Labuschain returned with 74 off 117 balls with six fours and two sixes. Ole Robinson took three wickets for England.
