Owner of a long stint as coach of Argentinos Juniors, coach Gabi Milito is very close to taking on a new challenge. At least, this is the information conveyed by the ‘Olé’ portal that Universidad Católica would be his likely new club.

According to the aforementioned portal, Gabi is verbally successful both in terms of the project presented and also in terms of its economic nature. In this way, the officialization of his arrival in the Chilean representation would depend only on the signing of the contract.

At 43 years old, the former player from clubs such as Independiente, Barcelona and Zaragoza began his career as a coach in 2015, in charge of Estudiantes. Since then, he has had a new experience at Independiente (however, on the bench) in addition to O’Higgins, on Chilean soil.

However, the fact is that it was at Argentinos Juniors that his skills as a coach ended up being most pronounced. Constituting a trajectory since 2021, he has collected numbers in the order of 135 games where he has built the following record: 58 wins, 33 draws and 44 defeats.

This type of consistency, in fact, is precisely what Universidad Católica is looking for at the moment. After five rounds of the Chilean Championship and the qualifying stage of the South American Championship, the Crusaders fell in the continental tournament and are only in 12th nationally. The scenario in question was precisely what resulted in the dismissal of the last occupant of the position, Nicolás Núñez.
