Gabon: Manganese production down 30% in the 1st quarter of 2023

DIG/ Following on from the fourth quarter of 2022, manganese production fell nearly 30% (29.7%) quarter-on-quarter.

She established herself to 1.7 million tonnes against 2.3 million tonnes in 2022.

According to the Directorate General for the Economy and Fiscal Policy, the rupture of the railway line on December 24, 2022 forced operators located beyond the place of the incident to drastically reduce their activity, for lack of being able to evacuate the ore.

This accident came exacerbate a situation already marked by a shortage of fuel and a low availability of wagons for the evacuation of the ore.
