On June 16, bodybuilding will make its second official appearance on Gabonese soil through the Great Night of Martial Arts. Gathered in association, the Gabonese bodybuilders have as president a woman, named Sylvana Zang Obiang, a bodybuilder who has proven herself in the United States and who hosted a press conference at the Johnson Okoumé gymnasium in Ouloumi. Here are the outlines of a discipline that dreams of establishing itself on Gabonese soil and highlighting Gabonese sport.


Bodybuilding is growing and is already making its mark in Gabon. The proof, he will be present during the Great Night of Martial Arts, 60 days after his official release in Gabon at the Johnson Okoumé Gymnasium in Ouloumi. Bodybuilding has existed in Gabon for 4 long years now through the Gabonese bodybuilding and fitness association (AGCF), and aims to unify sport lovers.

To practice this discipline, you have to arm yourself with a lot of rigor, via nutrition, physical conditioning, but also knowing how to share the fruit of the work through a public exhibition. There are different categories, namely bodybuilding and physical mind. But the two are diametrically opposed. Indeed, the difference is at the level of muscle mass, the type of posing (posture). All this will be presented during the Great Night of Martial Arts on June 16, 2023 at the gymnasium of the Prytanée Militaire in Libreville.

At the African level, the president of the association of Gabonese bodybuilders, Sylvana Zang Obiang first wants to establish herself permanently in Gabon by first becoming a federation by creating leagues and clubs, before being able to conquer the rest of the world. Africa and why not establish itself as a Confederation. So for this, Gabonese bodybuilders are in permanent contact with a group of African federations (Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina-Faso, etc.), as well as the world bodybuilding body, the IFBB (International Federation of Body Building).
