See you in August, the unpublished novel by Gabriel García Márquez of which a fragment is known to date, will finally be published in 2024 by the Random House Literature imprint, after the authorization of the author’s sons, Rodrigo and Gonzalo.

The work, which since 2014 rests in the funds acquired by the Harry Ransom Center of the University of Texas, has about one hundred and fifty pages and revolves around Anna Magdalena Bach, a 52-year-old woman who visits the Her mother’s grave on a Caribbean island to which she travels alone and where, despite leading an apparently happy marriage, she will make the decision, for the first time in her life, to sleep with a stranger she chooses at the hotel.

Five self-contained stories, each of which narrates a sexual encounter with a different man, make up the novel, whose protagonist thus pursues the memory of her first lover.

See you in August was rewritten several times by the Colombian Nobel Prize winner.
