Ponte Preta were disenchanted in Series B of the Brazilian Championship, defeating Amazonas 3-0 this Monday at Moisés Lucarelli, in Campinas, in the third round. The highlight of the match was striker Gabriel Novaes, who scored two goals for the black and white team – he even had one disallowed.
With the result, Ponte Preta rose seven positions and reached tenth place, with four points. Amazonas, with one, appears in 17th place, within the relegation zone.
Before the ball rolled, striker Jô, from Amazonas and former Corinthians, was arrested for non-payment of child support. He would have started the duel, but ended up leaving the delegation on his way to Moisés Lucarelli.
After what happened with Jô, Amazonas entered the field with a lack of concentration and ended up being dominated by Ponte Preta, who opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Gabriel Novaes received the ball on the left, invaded the area, cut to the midfielder and shot across goalkeeper Edson Mardden.
Amazonas even tried to respond, but the night belonged to Gabriel Novaes. At 27, he received it from Matheus Régis and scored, but the referee canceled the move, with the help of VAR, and scored a foul on Sassá. But that didn’t intimidate Ponte Preta, who continued crushing their opponent. At 32, the number 35 arrived again and saw Patric clear the line.
At 33, there was no way. Dudu Vieira recovered the ball and passed it to Gabriel Novaes. From afar, the attacker shot with extreme class to score the second, which was worth it. The score could still be more elastic. At 45, Matheus Régis hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Amazonas found itself again and started to create more. At six, Patric activated Sassá, who turned and shot weakly, making life easier for goalkeeper Pedro Rocha. Soon after, at ten, Ênio advanced to the left and shot. Sérgio Raphael saved on the line.
Amazonas lost its rhythm and gave even more space to Ponte Preta, who wasted two more good chances before reaching the goal. Dodô was activated at speed and shot low to overcome Edson Mardden and confirm the first victory of Series B.
In the next round, Ponte Preta will face Operário on Saturday, at 5pm, at the Germano Krüger Stadium, in Ponta Grossa (PR). On the same day and time, Amazonas hosts Santos at Arena Amazônia, in Manaus (AM).
