Gabriela Petrova and Ivan Ivanov will not take part in the athletics balkaniad in Istanbul today.

Petrova was supposed to start in the triple jump. At the tournament in Ghent, where she jumped earlier in the month, she suffered minor pains and stayed for recovery procedures in Plovdiv.

The athlete returned to the track this winter after missing all of 2023 due to injury, and her big goals are the European Outdoor Championships in Rome and the Olympics in Paris. She is currently third in the world rankings for the season with 14.38 meters.

This season’s best 800m competitor, Ivan Ivanov, is also missing the Balkaniad due to a minor injury.

Thus, 15 Bulgarian athletes will participate in the Balkan indoor championship in Istanbul, which starts later.
